Outdoor Chat > Muskies

Lots of stories about muskies on the website. What do I do if I catch one? How do I handle them?

Hey There BW!
That's a good question. There is no doubt that if you catch a muskie, it is important to get them safely back into the water. My suggestion is to make sure you have a net that is large enough. Once you get the fish in the net, keep it in the water. That's right, Don't remove the fish from the water until all the hooks are safely out of the fish and the net. Then get the camera ready, and hoist the muskie out of the water while bracing it in the stomach to secure it. Once you get it down to a science, it only takes about 20 seconds to have the fish out of the water, and they swim away healthy and ready for the next guy. Good luck!
